Big Ten Network's The Journey producer Bill Friedman joined us Thursday to discuss his show's upcoming episode, "Senior Day".
The show, The Journey, chronicles what is going on in Big Ten basketball and gives viewers an opportunity to catch exclusive behind-the-scenes action that they would not normally be able to see.
"Senior Day", which airs Sunday, follows seniors from Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana during the final home game of their respective college careers. The episode follows three Badgers specifically: Mike Bruesewitz, Dan Fahey and J.D. Wise. Why these players? Each has their own unique story, Bruesewitz as a stand-out, Fahey as a walk-on 3rd generation Badger with "a lot of personality", and Wise as a walk-on who made the team during an open student tryout. Friedman calls Wise's story "pretty amazing."
With senior day already having taken palce, we know the Badgers suffered an unexpected loss against Purdue. How did this loss affect the show? Friedman said the show covers games "to see the emotion, see the finality.. We're most concerned with telling the story." He added that the show strives to be a documentary. "Whatever happens, happens."
If you are interested in catching the newest episode, it will air Sunday at 7pm Central on the Big Ten Network, following the Northwestern vs. Michigan State game.
