Todd Rosiak from JSOnline joined the show on Wednesday to Brewers baseball.

Rosiak said that even though Alex Gonzalez has never played at First Base before, he is looking like a natural. “I don’t know that he will be an everyday guy but just in the course of about five days he has turned himself from just another name in the discussion to maybe they can go with Taylor Green/Alex Gonzalez as a lefty-righty platoon there, he has really looked good.” Rosiak said that Gonzalez has kept himself in great shape, and that the Brewers aren’t very surprised he is doing so well because of his athleticism.

Rosiak talked about how Chris Narveson did in his first Spring Training outing. “It’s not about results at this point for him it’s just mentally getting back out there, going through some of those butterflies in his stomach, working on location, trying to make sure the balls coming out right.” Rosiak said that Narveson was pleased with himself in the clubhouse and that he had accomplished everything he had wanted to with his outing.

What players is Brewers’ Manager Ron Roenicke most concerned losing to the World Baseball Classic? “The two biggest things for him are going to be the starting pitchers Gallardo and Estrada and also the two catchers (Jonathon Lucroy and Martin Maldonado).” Rosiak said that there are rules in the World Baseball Classic where the pitchers can’t be overworked, but these guys are competitors, representing their countries in very competitive environments. “If you’re the Brewers you are definitely holding your breath that those two guys come out no worse for the wear.”

Rosiak talked about Lucroy and Maldonado being gone can hurt the Brewers as they try and figure out who their last three starters are going to be.  “To not have those guys around leaves you with basically a collection of castoffs from other teams.  It’s tough to throw to those guys especially when you are trying to develop that repoire early you would like to have your top two guys getting the ball to them.”

Rosiak also said that Hunter Morris looks “over matched so far”.
