Pete Dougherty of the Green Bay Press Gazette joined the show on Friday from the NFL Scouting Combine.
Dougherty talked about the defensive line being an area the Packers will most likely address in the draft. “I think that’s a prime position for (Packers’ GM Ted Thompson) to draft in the first round. I think there’s a pretty decent chance it’s a defensive linemen they take.” Dougherty also said that the defensive line position as a whole is very deep this year.
Dougherty talked about the time table for Defensive Linemen Jerel Worthy as he rehabs from his knee surgery. “Big guys like that; you are talking nine months for sure. He would be a very good candidate for the PUP list (Physically Unable to Perform).” If Worthy is put on the PUP list, he would automatically miss the first six weeks of the season.
We asked Pete Dougherty how difficult is it to get legitimate information at the Combine. “There is a lot of B.S. flying around here.”
Dougherty thinks the Packers’ chances of picking a running a running back in the first 2 or 3 rounds of the draft are pretty good.
