Former lawyer Wendy Thurm of fangraphs.com joined the Mike Heller Show on Wednesday to discuss why Braun might have contacted Tony Bosch about possible legal advice regarding the steroid accusations.

Thurm said that there are multiple reasons why Braun may have wanted to talk with Bosh.  “It’s definitely plausible.  Lawyers do a lot of things in preparation for a case.  They talk to a lot of people.”  Thurm said that sometimes a client will talk with people who have a lot of information; sometimes the person might not have any.

But why would Braun want to communicate with Bosch, a guy who has been in trouble with this kind of stuff before?  “They might talk to Bosch exactly for the reason he was associated with players who have been found to have a banned substance in their urine.  Maybe you want to talk to someone who worked with another client and pursued similar arguments.”

Even if Braun talked to Bosch without using any of the consulting information, it was still going to be very expensive.  “I expect his legal fees to have come in around a million bucks. Then 20 to 30 thousand for a consultant, doesn’t sound out of place."
