SWEEP!

Posted July 24th, 2014 @ 9:07am

The Brewers celebrated Aramis Ramirez's 2,000 career game with a 5-1 victory over division rival Cincinnati yesterday at Miller Park in front of 38,192 faithful.

On a sun-drenched mid-70 degree day, the Brewers swept the Reds right out of Milwaukee, prior to this homestand the Crew were only 3-7 against the Reds this season. Thanks to a pair of home runs by the struggling Mark Reynolds, whose last "dinger" came on June 2 the Brewers were able to complete the sweep and stay in first place.

It was Reynolds 21st multi-homer game of his career, and 2nd this season. Starting pitcher Kyle Lohse gave the Brewers another quality start (15) and went 6 2/3 innings giving up only 1 run on 4 hits, while striking out 3. He improved his record to 11-4 on the season.

Topping it all off... Jeremy Jeffress came in to close out the ninth in his much anticipated return to the Brew City. Jeffress was dealt to Kansas City in the trade that brought Zach Greinke to the Brewers in 2010. After stops in K.C., Toronto, and the suspended list the Brewers 1st round pick in the 2006 draft wasted no time pitching a 1-2-3 ninth throwing several pitches in the high 90's and even reaching triple digits when he faced Skip Schumaker for the last out.

Next up the Mets...let's hope the Brewers keep their foot on the gas!
